So, last night I had dinner at my parent’s house. It was my Dad’s birthday so all the kids came home to celebrate. While my Dad was re-capping his day at work (he is a teacher in the Chicago Public School District) he enlightened us on a new dance move all his students are doing. A bit of background is in order here- my Dad has a history of bringing home cool moves from school. Six months ago when he was excited about a student’s correct answer, he did a quick Fonzie impersonation and slicked back his hair. Almost all in unison, the kids yelled “Mr. McDermott is doing the Dougie Fresh!!” He has proudly been slicking back his hair and shaking it off ever since.

Well, last night the Stanky Leg was brought into our lives forever! After checking it out on YouTube in our family’s kitchen, my Dad actually gets pretty low just like it’s really done so of course we all had to give it a try. Working in marketing its pretty funny to see how these trends get started, propagated and interpreted. I’m getting married on Saturday and you know what song my Dad will request… good thing we all practiced!
