CHIPUBLIB Sound Off
Got love for Chicago? So does the Chicago Public Library, and we want YOU to show us how deep your love is by creating an original Chicago-inspired song.
From August 27 – September 27, 2009 the Chicago Public Library is on the lookout for the next great Chicago song. Artists like Sufjan Stevens, Blues Brothers, and Kanye West have already sung their love for The Windy City. And who knows … your song could be the next Chicago anthem.
10 Finalists will move on to be reviewed by a panel of judges including Chris Force of ALARM Magazine, music & culture critic and author of The Girls’ Guide to Rocking Jessica Hopper and Grammy Award winning local hip hop artist Rhymefest, who will be looking for the best inspired track. One winner will be chosen to headline the CHIPUBLIB Sound Off music event where they will perform a set including their original ode to Chicago. But wait, there’s more … the Grand Prize winner also wins a studio package courtesy of Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio.
And if that wasn’t enough … from September 28 – October 3, fans will be able to vote online for their favorite Finalist. The Finalist with the top votes will win the opportunity to be the opening act of CHIPUBLIB Sound Off.
