Eating disorders are at an all time high. Who’s responsible?
nedic, the National Eating Disorder Information Centre thinks it’s the folks that cast ultra skinny models in commercials and ads. So to give them a taste of their own medicine, they sent them each a t-shirt. But not just any t-shirt—but one that only stick-thin, airbrushed models could fit in; negative size 8, for example, with a tag that said “Please try this on to experience how your ads make us feel.” (video here)
The purpose of this campaign, also extended through outdoor advertising, was to communicate the message “Cast responsibly. Retouch minimally.”
Reminds us of the Campaign for Real Beauty by Dove.
