“DeadSocial is a tool that allows anyone to create scheduled messages. These are distributed across their social networks after their death.”

Is this a nice way to honor someone’s memory, just a bit creepy, or both?

PressPausePlay

Fascinating documentary about how the digital revolution has affected creativity. There are many different perspectives in this film, with differing viewpoints.

“The digital revolution of the last decade has unleashed creativity and talent of people in an unprecedented way, unleashing unlimited creative opportunities.

But does democratized culture mean better art, film, music and literature or is true talent instead flooded and drowned in the vast digital ocean of mass culture? Is it cultural democracy or mediocrity?

This is the question addressed by PressPausePlay, a documentary film containing interviews with some of the world’s most influential creators of the digital era.”

Cultural democracy or mediocrity? You decide.

Happy National Nerd Day!

Officially known as “The Day of Geek Pride,” National Nerd Day is celebrated on May 25th to commemorate the release of the original Star Wars film. However, the day has taken on many different meanings.

“The Day of Geek Pride” got us thinking, “What is the nerdiest thing that we do?”

The first thing that came to our mind was usernames. We’re all guilty of it, keeping those old and ridiculous screen names and email address for years. Our Creative Director, Eric is guilty of this. He has been using the username “Zor” for as long as he can remember.

Who or what is Zor you ask? Zor is a fictional character from a short-lived science fiction anime series.

Do you still hold on to your old usernames? What is the most ridiculous one you use? Let us know!

Coca-Cola Concert: The world´s first concert at a 50 m...

Coca-Cola Concert: The world´s first concert at a 50 m height

“We took advantage of the launch of the new album of a renowned local band, invited them and created a concert like no other, in which young people where the ones who, by downloading the album’s songs from their mobile phones, also downloaded the band from a height of 50 meters.

Every time the audience downloaded a song, the band played it and came down 10 meters, until they reached ground level with their fans. In this way, we promoted an online radio station in a way never seen before.”

Great job by Coca-Cola, who understood their audience, and engaged with them on a physical and digital level at the same time. The stunts produced over 50,000 downloads in one hour.

Chicago Lost & Found: The Big Picture

Not only does Chicago Lost & Found help get art back into the lives of students and Chicagoans in general, they also recycle and repurpose “junk” into very cool products and objets d’arts. Last year Brook and All Terrain helped founder Mitch Pennell launch this one-of-a-kind organization and supported their first Big Picture Soiree which was a huge success. This year’s Big Picture event will truly be an awesome evening of marvelous food, cocktails and entertainment to celebrate the arts and raise funding for education. Check it out and we hope to see you there!

The folks at New Amsterdam created an innovative way to activate their brand at different events across the country called Shave Lounges. This particular video took place at Coachella 2012.

Consumers were welcomed to the Shave Lounge by brand ambassadors, they are then offered a shoe-shine, shave (from local, old-school barbers) and of course, a complimentary New Amsterdam cocktail.

Director of Marketing for Gallo Wineries, Gerard Thoukis called the Shave Lounges “On trend with the millennial male consumer.”

We agree, this is a fun and unique way to familiarize consumers with the brand. Great execution, and a smart concept.

INFOGRAPHIC

When HQ is running at warp speed, as it is this time of year, it’s a safe bet we’re being powered on snack food & caffeine (Our Flavia machine is one of the most used items in the office).

Even though we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of a secret snack bin being maintained by one of our Operations, our love of snacks doesn’t mean we’re always digging out the last crumbs of a potato chip bag. Take this morning for example, when we stumbled upon All Terrainer Clare’s mid-morning munch of choice.

As you can see by the picture above, this Low Carb toast covered in organic Ricotta and topped with fresh berries is just one example of our creativity spilling onto our plates. If you plan on recreating this treat Clare recommends pairing it with a Dark Matter iced skim Latte for best results.

Bon Appétit!

We knew him before he was big.

Turns out last summer, Josh Hutcherson who plays Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games visited our Chevy Street Team in LA to check out the 2012 Camaro. However we like to think of ourselves as kids at heart (even if we have a few kids of our own), which is why we really dig the concept behind ‘Life of George’.

As the Mashable.com article that brought this game to our attention highlights; this is the first fully-integrated digital-to-physical game, and comes to us from your childhood friends at Lego (remember them?). The game follows a simple story line, in which you follow George and are challenged to build Lego models of the images George takes while on his various adventures. Once you are shown these images a timer counts down how long you have to build the object. What’s really neat is that you then place the palm tree, taxi cab, or hulu girl you just built using actual Lego Blocks, on a special mat which enables the iPhone app to digitally determine if you’ve completed your build and if it is accurate.

It’s easy to see why ‘Life of George’ won an award at SXSWi, and we’re excited to see how else this latest evolution of digital gaming will be incorporated in the future. Just don’t mind us if you start seeing miscellaneous Lego pieces laying around All Terrain HQ.

We are big fans of our friends over at Red Bull. The evidence of this affection can be seen by taking a stroll through the All Terrain HQ any afternoon, and counting the number of empty Red Bull cans scattered on the desks of our hard working All Terrainers.

But our love doesn’t just stop at the product/consumer level. We also admire the folks at Red Bull for there fresh, and gutsy approach to sport. Whether it’s creating a downhill ice skating race, called “Crashed Ice”, or offering the less coordinated, but still willing, among us to fling themselves off a perfectly good pier at their Flugtag events, they never cease to amaze us.

However, as All Terrainer Tara informed us, this time they’ve pushed the proverbial envelope to the edge, literally. Last week, Red Bull ‘Astronaut’ Felix Baumgartner sky dove from just over 72,000 ft. above the New Mexico desert.

The crazy part is that this was just a test jump for the Red Bull Stratos project. This test was to prepare Baumgartner for his eventual trip to the “Armstrong Line”, the point in space roughly 23 miles into the atmosphere, where Earth’s laws of gravity eventually don’t begin to apply anymore. Baumgartner aims to jump from this height to see if Red Bull actually “gives you wings” (bad puns are about the only thing we’re willing to contribute to this crazy idea).

We will be sure to stay tuned to the Red Bull Stratos Project from the comfort and safety of sea level.

It's 80° and a Friday.....

…and this blog is tired. Over 450 guests attended and together raised over $70K for charity! Highlights included a rare opportunity for guests to interact with Blackhawks players who were featured as celebrity bartenders and “shook the ice” behind the bar in the “Iron Bartending” competition judged by Steve “The Hungry Hound” Dolinsky and Chicago-based Master Mixologist Charles Joly! To cap off the night, a performance by Nashville recording artist Jerrod Niemann ensured the fan filled crowd will be counting the days until the next Keith Relief event!

Funds raised by Keith Relief will support a new pediatric transplant floor in Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana’s new Chicago House bearing the Keith Relief name, and will also support the infamous Ronald Van which can be found throughout the Chicagoland area at RMHC-CNI and Keith Relief charitable events.

It’s producing awesome events like this that not only make our jobs fun, but also incredibly rewarding.
