A really good friend Bob Badami just finished working on the film Sherlock Holmes directed by Guy Ritchie, starring Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, and Mark Strong.

This video created by Guy and Hans both celebrates and thanks all the amazing musicians that worked on the film. The video features “Discombobulate” from the Oscar-nominated score, Sherlock Holmes - composed by Hans Zimmer and produced by Zimmer and Lorne Balfe.

BTW Bob is the guy driving the boat! Hans is the first person you see on video. Guy, Robert and Rachael…well you can figure out who they are. The rest are a group of talented musicians that came together to create beautiful music. Way to go Sherlock!!!

3D Sidewalk Art That Will Blow Your Mind

Move over, hopscotch boards. U.K. artist Julian Beever and German artist Edgar Mueller are two dudes who independently make some pretty amazing 3D chalk sidewalk murals. It’s almost as if the guy from Mary Poppins and Wile E. Coyote started giving art lessons. These optical illusions use perspective so that when seen from the right angle, the drawings seem as real as a photograph. Curious? See how it’s done.

Two years ago I bought a live auction item at a Chicago Abused Woman’s Coalition fundraiser. The package was call “Project Runway”. Emerging designer Borris Powell had offered up his design skills to make an original dress for the purchaser of the package. Due to busy schedules, it took Borris and I almost 2 years to collaborate on what became a stunning cocktail dress and matching evening coat. I debuted the outfit this month at the Brian Campbell - Campbell for Kids event, All Terrain produced. It was a huge hit! There is another funny story about how I had to be cut out of the dress, but I will save that for another blog entry. Anyway … Borris just debuted his new line in London to rave reviews. Here is the article about his show. I love this guy. He is driven, talented and has the best heart! Way to go Borris!!!

BTW I can’t wait to wear my dress and coat at your upcoming show March 19^th at the Knickerbocker.

Remember cassette tapes?

The joy of winding up loose tape with pencils. Getting them stuck in the tape deck in your car and having to listen to some mix tape an ex gave you for six months until you pried it out with a butter knife. Hitting ‘record’ on your stereo and pirating music off the radio. Man, those were the days. An MP3 doesn’t get messed up when you leave it in the sun too long!

Anyway … we posted the question “What was your first cassette tape?” here at All Terrain HQ. Here are the some of the results:

Chicago Fire Soccer Jersey Unveiling Party

For soccer fans, the unveiling of the new “kit,” or uniform, for the season is a very big deal. This year’s Chicago Fire jersey unveiling took place at Rockit Bar & Grill in downtown Chicago at lunchtime on January 14. The Fire is our client and All Terrain’s responsibility was to invite and help manage media and VIPs. The media, both sports and non-sports, was there in full force as were the fans, eager for a first look at the uniforms and an autograph.

Fire superstars Brian McBride and Logan Pause were on hand to model the dark and light versions of the uniform, complete with details like the 4 Chicago stars on the shirt (do you know what the 4 stars on Chicago’s flag stand for?) Miss Illinois 2009 and Rockit owner Billy Dec were on hand along with Amy Freeze, Fox 32’s weather superstar, who served as EmCee. Amy is a HUGE soccer fan and was totally in her elements with the guys. Of course, Best Buy is the uniform sponsor of the Chicago Fire so you saw plenty of “blue shirts” around as well. We got some great photos from the event, courtesy of the Chicago Fire so check them out.

Patrick Kane celebrates 21st birthday with Vince Vaughn and the ladies of All Terrain

Monday, December 14, several All Terrainers gathered to celebrate the 21^st birthday of Chicago Blackhawk’s Right Wing, Patrick Kane. The invitation-only event, held at Harry Caray’s, was the culmination of a two-week toy drive the Blackhawks and Kane hosted over 3 home games to support various children’s charities including the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program, Dreams for Kids, and the NorthShore University HealthSystem, to name a few.

Additional guests included Vince Vaughn’s recent fiancée Kyla Weber, Blackhawks legend Bobby Hull, the Bear’s Israel Idonije , Bears Super Bowl MVP Richard Dent, Blackhawk Adam Burish, retired pitcher Rob Dibble, “Mr. Cub” Ernie Banks, CBS anchor Bill Curtis. And of course The Ice Crew Girls.

Visible in photos was Kane’s impressive cut over his left eye where he fell onto the butt of his hockey stick during Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Rather than try to hide the cut, Kane proudly sported injury as a badge of honor.

Ever complained about your boss to your boss? Told your son you’re getting divorced through a wall post? Lied about your grandma dying only to be called out by your own electronic trail? If not, you’re lucky and you’re obviously not using Facebook enough.

We can’t vouch that all of these are real (in fact we hope some of them aren’t) but these are the funniest Facebook status scenarios we’ve ever seen. They had us hiding in shame while bursting out laughing.

Say Cheese!

Looking for a quick appetizer for your Thanksgiving guests to munch on, especially if dinner is running a little behind? A cheese and cracker platter is an easy solution, and here’s a recipe for chocolate mice to add some a little fun to the dish.

Chocolate mice recipe:

1 package of almond bark chocolate

1 small package of shaved almonds

2 jars of maraschino cherries with STEMS ON

1 small tube of red gel icing

1 package of Herseys kisses

Take off the wrappers of 20-30 kisses for the head. Set aside 40-60 shaved almonds for the ears. Heat up half of the package almond bark chocolate. Once the chocolate is melted and ready to dip, take the cherry and dip. Place on wax paper while connecting the hersey kiss. Your partner in crime will have to take 2 almond slices and stick them in between the head and body. Wait about 10 seconds to let set. The whole batch can be made in 20 minutes. Once hardened dot the red gel for the eyes.

Wa-la, you have chocolate mice for that ever popular cheese platter!

What is Movieoke?

Movieoke is literally movie scene Karaoke. The performers hold microphones and perform using the monitor to read along and act out the scene in front of them. They have over 200 scenes to choose from, scenes that will make you laugh, scenes that will make you cry, scenes that will do both and scenes that are just plain classic. And of course they can provide a very talented host to keep things lively and running onstage. Or you can provide your own, privy to all your inside jokes and they’ll just keep things running from the background. One of the biggest differences between Movieoke and Karaoke is that with Movieoke the scene plays on a projector behind the performers. Last night Holly Grosso our VP of Business management and myself were invited to Cirque du Soleil new theatrical production, Banana Shpeel, at The Chicago Theatre. It was the first time the show was performed at the theatre as it starts its seven weeks run ending January 3, 2010.

The Show

Banana Shpeel is a ton of fun! It is a roller-coaster mix of performance styles inspired by vaudeville that blends comedy with tap, hip hop, eccentric dance and slapstick, all linked by a hilarious narrative that ignites a succession of wacky adventures. This is not circus, or a musical or a variety show, or even vaudeville. AS they say on the commercials It is Banana Shpeel!

Propelled by crazy humor and intense choreography, Banana Shpeel plunges audiences into the world of Schmelky, a brash, ambitious producer who is trying to put together a spectacular variety show. His world is populated with sidekicks, dancers, singers and novelty acts – and a trio of badly-behaved clowns who crash the auditions spreading chaos in all directions.
