Fist bump to Rob for sending today’s post!

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it’s the longest and largest surface area 3D painting ever created. In November, British artist Joe Hill designed the 12,000 square foot piece at Canary Wharf in London.

At first glance, it’s just an awesome image. But look a little closer… and welcome to the crafty world of non-traditional marketing.

How much do you think Reebok paid for that?

If you’re interested to see the piece in its early stages, here’s Hill’s outline, before he really got down to business:

In All Terrain’s perpetual hunt for nifty and shareworthy web gems, we may have just found one of the coolest yet.

A New York-based Chinese artist recently unveiled a stunning daytime fireworks display — the biggest of its kind — at the Museum of Modern Art in Doha, Qatar. Using the sky as his canvas, 54-year-old Cai Guo-Qiang manipulated explosives controlled by microchips to create some pretty rad patterns and images.

Concentrated smoke clouds, in both black and full color, explode into what appear as scattered ink drops spanning the sky. In one of the most visually stunning shots (pictured below), Guo-Qiang uses 8,300 black shells to paint an image of a pyramid shape over the desert.

And, apparently, dude’s just getting started. The show’s debut was merely the launch of Guo-Qiang’s ongoing display, which runs at the museum until March of 2012.

Ready for this? 3… 2…. 1….. FIIIIRE!

Kinda makes us wish Chicago’s NYE display could be at 12 AM PM.
